Marlboro Music Festival

Marlboro Music welcomes about 85 extraordinary musicians to the Vermont campus of Marlboro College for seven weeks to spend time away from the pressures of everyday life, joining with highly gifted musicians from around the world to rehearse chamber music in depth and without deadlines. In the latter part of the summer, our artists share a portion of these works with audiences in public performances. Surrounded by inspiring colleagues and the natural beauty of Vermont, our artists often tell us how special and memorable their musical experiences are in the summers.

In addition to pianists, string and wind players, 6 to 8 singers selected from auditions come to Marlboro and work on art songs, vocal chamber music - such as vocal duets, trios and quartets, and also sometimes collaborations with instrumentalists -- in works like Schubert's Shepherd on the Rock, Rossini's Il Tramonto, and Brahms Zwei Gesange for mezzo, viola and piano.
