Description

The Hurley School of Music provides the highest quality training and development of music students in the context of a liberal arts college. Embracing the college’s liberal arts philosophy, the School of Music guides young musicians in either general studies in the B.A. in music degree or more intensive programs of specialization through concentrations within the B.A. in music degree.

Hurley provides opportunities for all segments of the College and the community to experience the art of music through class offerings, applied music study, ensemble participation, and the presentation of concerts. The Hurley School of Music has been accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music since 1934.

We also offer a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Music Education (K–12)

Centenary's music faculty members have mentored students who have gone on to professional careers as composers, opera singers, music theatre stars, public school music teachers, choral conductors, college professors, public radio personalities, and church musicians.

The Hurley School of Music maintains a significant connection to the Shreveport/Bossier City community through our preparatory programs and concert events—many with free admission to the public—throughout the year.
