Description

In the School of Music our goal is to educate the whole musician, not just to train a performer. All great performances go far beyond technical mastery to include a sense of history, society, culture and art. At Redlands, our students learn to perform, interpret and teach music in a liberal arts environment that provides a broad education and intense training.

At Redlands you can perform in the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Chapel Singers, University Choir, Studio Jazz Band, Jazz Improv Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Guitar Ensembles, and Opera Theater Workshop. Our studio faculty are among the finest musicians and teachers in Southern California. The classes are small and your teachers will know you as a person, not just as a name on a class roster.

The School of Music has a very close and special relationship with the Redlands Symphony Orchestra (RSO). Redlands students get to see their teachers perform in Memorial Chapel as the principal players in the RSO. Qualified students have the opportunity to play in the RSO as an assistant, substitute or section player. The student winner of our concerto competition gets to perform with the RSO on a regular subscription series concert.
