Description

The Voice and Opera programs at the Mead Witter School of Music, University of Wisconsin-Madison collaborate to create a supportive and inspiring atmosphere for growth, challenging students to improve as musicians and encouraging them to unfold as artists. Our alumni currently perform in major opera, musical theater and concert venues, teach at large and small universities throughout the United States and educate the next generation of musicians in public schools. Our award-winning opera program prides itself on inclusivity, regularly casting both graduate and undergraduate students in leading roles. Since 2015, UW-Madison has been the proud recipient of ten National Opera Association Opera Production Awards (Albert Herring, Le nozze di Figaro, Transformations, L’incoronazione di Poppea, Cosi fan tutte, Into the Woods, What's Past is Prologue: The Unfinished American Conversation, Sweeney Todd, Two Remain (Out of Darkness), and The Turn of the Screw) and four awards from The American Prize (Falstaff, Transformations, I Wish It So: Marc Blitzstein - The Man In His Music, and Into the Woods).
