For over 60 years, the SIUE Music Department has been preparing musicians for fulfilling careers in music. The music faculty consists of distinguished artist-educators who are fully committed to the success of their students. We offer degrees in classical performance, jazz performance, music education, theory/composition, music history/literature, musical theater, and music business. Our music degree programs are fully accredited with the National Association of Schools of Music. SIUE alumni work in all areas of music throughout the world.

Our close proximity to St. Louis allows students at SIUE to take advantage of excellent musical opportunities and experiences beyond the classroom. We are located just 25 minutes from downtown St. Louis, a vibrant city with a thriving musical culture. The city has played an important role in the development of the blues, jazz, and rock and roll and is home to internationally recognized music institutions such as the St. Louis Symphony, Jazz St. Louis, and Opera Theater St. Louis. Music students at SIUE have exceptional performing opportunities and access to world class culture, all while living and studying on our picturesque 2,600 acre campus.
