Description

The Voice Program at Miami University provides conservatory-style training within a liberal arts setting. We are grounded in a healthy approach to singing, individual mentorship, and exceptional performance opportunities. Students train in the creative, challenging, and supportive environment necessary for growth as a singer, performer, and teacher. A flexible curriculum also allows students to explore other interests, or even double-major in a second area of interest, expanding their global outlook and strengthening their artistry.

Miami students love to learn! They enjoy varied performances of opera, oratorio with orchestra, specialty art song concerts, jazz standards from the Great American Songbook, competitions, musicals, and weekly recital hours. Students feel prepared and supported through individualized learning, vocal coaching, academic advisors, and vocal health support.

The Department of Music at Miami University is an inclusive community passionate about learning, creating, and performing. We enroll about 250 undergraduate majors. 65 of those are voice majors, including vocal performance, music education, and bachelor of arts in voice. Our primary focus is on undergraduate students. Our classes are interesting and engaging, taught by renowned faculty. We were rated THIRD in the nation in undergraduate teaching by U.S. News and World Reports. Graduates of our programs are very successful. They either find jobs or are admitted to the most prestigious graduate programs in the United States and abroad.
