Bio

Kimberly Milburn is an American mezzo-soprano and actress. This spring, she makes her Kennedy Center debut on the Millennium Stage as soloist with the Asian American Music Society, and she will play Second Witch in Dido and Aeneas with the Ridgewood Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Co. In May and June, she will also sing for masterclasses at the Classical Singer convention and at the REACH, all in Washington, D.C. And in July, she travels to Italy to audition at Masterclass Ischia.

In the 2022-23 season, she appeared as Ericlea in Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria, Rafaela (cover) in the East Coast premiere of Carla Lucero and Alicia Gaspar de Alba's Juana, and Carmen excerpted in concert, all with the dell'Arte Opera Ensemble; as Leila in lolanthe at Symphony Space; as Zita in Gianni Schicchi (scene); and as Mère Marie in Dialogues des Carmélites with the Bronx Opera's outreach program. She was also scheduled to sing Carmen with the No Strings Theatre (Toronto) in August but withdrew due to heat-related illness. She was in several concerts in New York and Washington, D.C., singing Dorabella, Nicklausse, Carmen, Lyubasha, Augusta Tabor, and Lilli Vanessi and was a featured soloist at a fully-funded intensive and concert at the REACH at Kennedy Center with the Asian American Music Society.

Kimberly was born in Busan, Korea and grew up in the American South. She previously worked as a sommelier and made her New York debut in 2019 as Dritte Dame in Die Zauberflöte at Weill Recital Hall. She was then cast as Ludmila in The Bartered Bride with the Bronx Opera's outreach program, but the performance was postponed due to the pandemic. On the concert stage, she has been a soloist in Vaughan Williams' Serenade to Music, Bach's Easter Cantata "Der Himmel Lacht" (both with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra), and Chailley's Suite du XVe Siècle. In addition to her music education, she studied acting at HB Studio. She currently lives, works, teaches, and studies in New York City.
