Bio

Voice Teacher and Owner of Kathy’s Voice Studio

The Woodlands, TX

I specialize in voice lessons for both teens and adults and offer special teaching techniques for younger children.

My first vocal studio in Galveston TX in the early 1980s consisted of adults in both beginner and intermediate levels and teens involved in musical theater and UIL solo and ensemble contest.

I am also very interested in helping non-singers become more confident and comfortable with their voices, even if just for their own pleasure.

The person who “can’t carry a tune in a bucket” has been a career-long interest for Kathy. I work on pitch-matching and teaching pitch intervals in a repetitive manner.

Church music has been a big part of Kathy’s life. I have long been a church & oratorio soloist and have years of experience as a church choir director.

Musical Theater has a special place in my heart. I have had lead roles in college, community and semi-pro productions. Menotti’s operettas were also a favorite.

Kathy studied voice at University of North Texas with Virginia Botkin, studied privately with Maureen Patton in Galveston and Anne Farrel at University of Puget Sound in Tacoma WA; studied several years in a choral and soloist setting with Dr. Paul Schulze at University of Puget Sound; and has studied and experienced the vocal techniques of Dr. Allen Hightower, currently at University of North Texas.

My studio consists of in-person lessons (as of June 2021) and online private lessons, both out of my home studio in The Woodlands TX.
