Bass-Baritone · Three-Time GRAMMY® Winner · Assistant Professor of Voice, Vanderbilt University
Hailed by The New York Times for his “enormous, thrilling voice…" Bronx native bass-baritone Dashon Burton has forged a career that bridges the Baroque masterworks of Bach and the most contemporary of 21st-century music. An original member of the hyperdimensionally transcendent vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth, Burton won his first Grammy in 2013 for the ensemble’s eponymous debut recording; a second Grammy in 2021 for Dame Ethel Smyth’s "The Prison" with The Experiential Orchestra (Chandos); and his third in 2024 for Roomful of Teeth’s album "Rough Magic."
He earned his Bachelor of Music at Oberlin Conservatory and his Master of Music at Yale University's ISM. Burton’s blend of scholarly rigor and visceral stage presence now places him on concert platforms across North America, Europe, and Asia, collaborating with conductors from Masaaki Suzuki to Michael Tilson Thomas.
