Praised for his “golden tone,” “dreamy legato,” and “gifted comic acting,” Lyric Baritone Ted Federle is both a dynamic performer and a dedicated educator who helps singers of every style discover their healthiest and most authentic sound.
A member of the voice faculty at Duke University, Ted believes that teaching should go beyond a one-size-fits-all approach. He tailors his instruction to each student’s unique voice and goals, emphasizing healthy, sustainable technique across genres, from opera and musical theatre to pop, rock, and gospel. He also has specialized experience in vocal rehabilitation and recovery, as well as teaching singers with disabilities, helping all students build strength, confidence, and expressive freedom.
As a performer, Ted has appeared with Opera Companies throughout the United States and has been recognized by multiple international competitions.
A native of Cincinnati, he holds a BM from Bowling Green State University, MM from UNC-Greensboro, and a PAC from the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. He splits his time between Winston-Salem and Durham, North Carolina.
