Bio

Thomas King, tenor, has sung in five world premier operas in the last 25 years, three of which were written especially for him. In 2005 he created the role of Chopin in the world premier performance of “George Sand…and Chopin?” King has sung recitals in over twenty states, in Germany and Austria. He sang professionally in Germany for five years, performing over 400 times on various opera stages.

Dr. King taught at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria for 25 years and was the Artistic Director for seven years, retiring in 2010. King is Professor Emeritus of Voice at Austin Peay State University in Tennessee. He holds degrees from the University of Kansas, Indiana University, the Mozarteum Conservatory in Salzburg, and the University of Mississippi.

While enjoying retirement(?), he has been a Visiting Professor of Voice at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and taught voice, vocal literature and diction at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana.
