Soprano RAEJIN LEE has an active performing career with appearances across the United States, Italy, and Korea in oratorio, recital, and opera. Her operatic roles include Adina in L’elisir d’amore, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Juliette in Roméo et Juliette, Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel, Giulietta in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Despina in Così fan tutte, and Laetitia in The Old Maid and the Thief.
Dr. Lee has received numerous honors and awards, including a special prize for distinguished performance of Italian art song from the Italian American Cultural Foundation. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Indiana University, where she was also a featured soloist with the Contemporary Vocal Ensemble. She holds an Artist Diploma from the Cleveland Institute of Music and completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Rutgers University as a student of Faith Esham.
Dedicated to both performance and pedagogy, Dr. Lee has mentored students who have gone on to attend prestigious institutions such as The Juilliard School, USC Thornton School of Music, New England Conservatory, Manhattan School of Music, Rutgers University, and Indiana University Bloomington.
Dr. Lee published a collection of Korean art songs inspired by traditional folk elements in collaboration with composer Dr. Jean Ahn. The project aims to expand the art song repertoire for professional singers and introduce Korean art song to a global audience.
Originally from Seoul, Korea, Dr. Lee is an Associate Professor and Director of Vocal Studies at La Sierra University. She also serves as co-coordinator of the vocal program at the Montecito International Music Festival, where she has been on the voice faculty since 2015.
