Bio

Are you a singer or speaker who would like a more powerful, authentic voice? My focus is to assist you in finding an easier way to sustain your best posture, breath support, resonance, and pitch control by bringing awareness to existing vocal habits while providing a hands-on experience adjusting those habits. I help you learn vocal assessment, enhance your understanding of how your voice is generated, and help you bring attention to which muscular changes will help you adjust and change your vocal sound. I grew up singing freely and naturally until I destroyed my voice through improper, frequent overuse. Private lessons with vocal professionals coupled with academic studies rebuilt my perception of how I was generating sound and their training gave me back my voice, for which I am forever grateful. I combine knowledge from these studies and my vocal exploration to rebuild my voice in exercises that I share with students of voice. I can help you reach your goals: My cross-training in dance, yoga, Tai Chi, commercial & improvisational acting provides a well-rounded platform from which to deliver information, guide vocal explorers, and also help develop talent. Professionals, pre-Pros to Beginners are all welcome. I work with all levels of singers, from those who never want to be on stage to those who need healthy vocal techniques to support recording & touring. Stage fright? I have tools. Let's breathe slowly & deeply, and begin the journey to discover your authentic voice.

History

Before vocal training I was unaware that I was using my voice improperly in my acting, singing in bands, addressing staff in meetings at work and leading groups. I began to suffer from vocal fatigue until I could no longer utter a single tone or speak without cracking. With the help of a classically trained vocal instructor I began to rebuild my voice, devoting myself to consistency with the vocal exercises along with changing my vocal habits. The payoff was singing all night without strain! My teacher encouraged me endlessly, and took notice of my passion for translating how bel canto singing practices were a foundation adaptable to any style of vocal music. She suggested I might be successful at coaching others. My vocal transformation was such a massive life-changing event that it completely derailed what I thought was my course through this life. I happily and gratefully set upon the task of helping others release their authentic voices, and finding an easier way to breathe.
