Growing up in the Tampa Bay Area, Rebecca Turngren was heavily involved in the performing arts. During her senior year, she made the High School All-State Chorus and received substantial scholarships to pursue her dreams. Over the years, her wonderful music teachers along with her determination and dedication to her musical growth led to her success in music theory exams, auditions, and competitions.
This past Fall, Rebecca graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Palm Beach Atlantic University. During her time at PBAU, she competed in the Dr. Robert Sharon Choral Competition in 2016 and won first place in both classical and musical theatre categories. She performed in various opera productions, ensembles, and as a soloist for the PBAU Concert Choir and Oratorio Chorus. Last year, she performed with the Palm Beach Opera Chorus in their grand opera production of Turandot. At the National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition (NATS), she was a District Winner for Musical Theatre. In the Classical category, she placed 2nd at Districts and was a Regional Finalist. During her senior teaching internship, Rebecca taught 2nd - 4th grade music as well as beginning, middle and high school band. She is a well-rounded musician who does not shy away from other musical areas.
Rebecca now teaches full-time in Palm Beach County instructing Lower School Music and Middle and High School Theatre. Later in February, Rebecca will be joining the Palm Beach Opera Chorus in their production of Pagliacci and is looking forward to future performance opportunities.
