Bio

Tammie Huntington, Soprano, maintains an active performing career introducing contemporary art music and lyric theatre throughout America’s heartland. In addition to a regular recital schedule, she has most recently created the role of “Amanda” in the new American political operatic web series A House Divided by Philip Seward (soundtrack available on all major streaming platforms). Seward and Huntington will be presenting A House Divided at the Twentieth International Conference on the Arts in Society at Carnegie Mellon University in May 2025.

In 2010, Huntington, with colleagues Lisa Moore and Phoenix Park-Kim, formed the ensemble Soprani Compagni (sopranicompagni.com) for the purpose of modeling soprano collaboration and commissioning new works for soprano duet. Soprani Compagni had their Carnegie Hall debut in 2012, and performed in Burgos Aires, Argentina, at the College Music Society International Conference in 2013. Through a generous grant obtained from the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities in 2015, Soprani Compagni commissioned twelve new works for two sopranos and piano, themed around Portraits of Women, available in a 2-CD album and on all major streaming platforms, along with a 2-volume anthology. They spent 2016-2017 touring South Korea, Hong Kong, China, and the U.S. with the Portraits of Women project, and performed at the International Congress of Voice Teachers in Stockholm, Sweden, in August of 2017. During the 2025-26 concert season, Soprani Compagni is presenting a recital of Indiana composers and contemporary music celebrating the Hoosier state.

Tammie Huntington holds a Doctor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance from Ball State University, where she also earned her Master of Music. Her bachelor’s degree is in Music Education and Applied Music from Grace College in Winona Lake, IN.

Dr. Huntington is a Professor of Music at Indiana Wesleyan University, where she has taught since 2007. A co-director of the Lyric Theatre program, her course offerings include Applied Voice, Diction for Singers, Vocal Pedagogy and Literature, Lyric Theatre Workshop, Lyric Theatre Production, Class Voice, and Fine Arts.

In addition to vocal coaching, Dr. Huntington has presented master classes and her various research projects across the United States and at national and international conferences in Europe, Asia, and South America. Dr. Huntington maintains a philosophy of cross-training in the voice studio, with an emphasis on building a healthy, efficient vocal technique for ease and longevity in a variety of styles necessary for the total singer and the demands of today’s market.
