Bio

Dr. Juliana Bishop Hoch is the Executive and Artistic Director of Loveland Opera Theatre, and she maintains a private voice studio in Loveland. In her voice studio, she focuses on vocal pedagogy and teaching the basics of vocal technique to her students. She teaches an Italian “bel canto” technique – focusing on vocal health and healthy singing for classical and musical theater styles.

A native of Denver, Colorado, Dr. Bishop Hoch has sung with numerous opera companies and symphony orchestras throughout the United States, Europe and China, including the Beijing National Symphony, Washington Civic Opera, the Blossom Opera Festival, the Aspen Music Festival, the Mississippi Opera Festival of the South, Westchester Opera, UNC Opera Theatre, Eastman Opera Theatre, John Brownlee Opera Theatre, the National Symphony, Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonia Virtuosi Orchestra and the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra.

Dr. Bishop Hoch holds her D.A. in Voice Performance and Pedagogy with an Opera Directing secondary emphasis from the University of Northern Colorado. She received her Master of Music in Voice Performance from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, and her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. She lives at home in Loveland with her husband, baritone Robert Hoch, and her beloved poodle, Schumann.

In addition to Loveland Opera Theatre, Dr. Bishop Hoch teaches voice to a large private voice studio of students ranging in age from 14-72. She teaches vocal technique and her former students are singing throughout the world. She works closely with each high school student to help them audition successfully for college scholarships and her students have received large scholarships ranging in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
