Bio

Lisa W. Hedin, displayed her passion for the arts at an early age and continued through to her majoring in voice performance at University of Illinois, C-U. Following graduation, she spent years as a professional actress in Chicago with a highlight being the time she spent with Different Drummer Music Theatre - an organization she helped to build from its inception. Following marriage and relocation to NW Indiana, she became involved with community theatre, where she has now been involved in more than 50 productions across four counties in sixteen different theatres. She has won four awards for her work as Best Actress. Since 2000, Lisa has been able to merge her passion for the arts with her “day” job, serving as a development professional and executive director of non profits. She opened her voice studio over a dozen years ago, and it has been her primary focus for 8 years. She is selective about her students as she also coaches students for ISSMA - an annual state wide music competition, costumes multiple shows every year, and performs when she chooses to. Her approach is about teaching in a safe, joyful, dedicated environment. She knows that she works hard for her students and asks them to do the same. She teaches in Italian, French, German and Latin, uses IPA regularly, and is constantly expanding her repertoire along with her students. She remains passionate about music.

Additionally, Lisa spent more than a dozen years as a board member for a local theatre foundation, and served as its President for 7. She has also received the Women of Excellence Award in the Arts for NWIndiana. She is particularly proud of her international collaborations that include: a tour to China with an original work - Rhapsody in Swing!, a chinese musical performed in Chinese that toured locally - Romance of the Western Chamber, a series of concerts at Symphony Center and Millennium Park, both in Chicago, where she produced a choir, sang in that choir and a collaborated with hundreds of Chinese artists from Chicago and China, and even collaborated on a commercial for Chinese National TV that was shown during the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. Lisa has spoken and lectured on Arts Management, Development, and Producing Internationally here in the States and in China as well.
