Neuköllner Oper

The Neuköllner Oper is a venue for contemporary music theatre in the heart of

Neukölln. With a long history in the field of contemporary opera,

the Neuköllner Oper has been producing musical theatre projects for almost 50 years. In dialogue with its immediate surroundings, the Neuköllner Oper's programme draws on

current discourses, aesthetics and contemporary pop culture. The Neuköllner

Oper is a hybrid: it has a theatre and all the necessary infrastructure

to start a musical theatre production immediately.

Only the artistic staff comes to the venue on a project basis, which means that

8-10 productions per year sum up to 150 freelance theatre professionals.

Neuköllner Oper auditorium – a former ballroom – has a capacity of 180

seats.
