This is where the Saxon State Orchestra Dresden plays, one of the most traditional orchestras in the world for over 470 years. The Saxon State Opera Choir was founded in 1817 by Carl Maria von Weber. Opera history was written here with numerous premieres such as Richard Wagner's "Rienzi", "The Flying Dutchman" and "Tannhäuser".
