Description

Opera Nova is a cultural institution of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship co-run by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. It is the largest and one of the most important artistic institutions in the Kujawy and Pomerania region.

The history of the Opera began with the Opera Studio and the first performances: "Flis" and "Verbum nobile" by Moniuszko on September 21, 1956, and "Wesela w Ojców" by Kurpiński. Our institution almost immediately gained the reputation of a place where you can develop your voice and gain experience. artistic. Here the first successes were achieved by the later recognized prima donnas of the Polish opera scene: Barbara Zagórzanka, Bożena Betley-Sieradzka, Bożena Kinasz-Mikołajczak, Lidia Skowron, Monika Olkisz-Chabros and outstanding singers: Florian Skulski, Józef Stępień, Bronisław Pekowski, Józef Przestrzeski.

Many years of efforts by the authorities, artists and the local community led to the creation of one of the most modernly equipped opera theaters. Today, Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz is an impressive facility, whose stone circles, picturesquely located in the bend of the Brda River, in the immediate vicinity of the Old Town, have become one of the city's symbols.
