Description

The “Opernwerkstatt am Rhein” was founded by the Cologne director and theater maker Sascha von Donat and the Düsseldorf cultural manager and management consultant Kerstin Witting and is a non-profit organization.

That's what defines us

We focus on fun in the theater and artistic quality. We show classics in an entertaining way, are a talent factory that promotes and see young artists and have a workshop character: We are flexible, keen to experiment and bundle creative talent to bring out productions that sweep the audience away.

We work with live music to put the theater experience in the foreground. We deal regularly with important social issues and have retained our idealism. The aim is to make the world a little better with our pieces ...

Yesterday, today and tomorrow

The opera workshop regularly plays in guest houses in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and France.

With 10 - 12 ongoing productions and more than 150 actors, stage and sound engineers, and make-up and costume designers, we tour the German-speaking region with a lot of enthusiasm and motivation and look forward to standing ovations, sold out houses and enthusiastic viewers. The ensemble has been awarded six national and international prizes. It is a member of the Assitej and of the equal welfare association.

Our rehearsal stage is in Cologne-Kalk and our headquarters are in Hürth.

Our large, very dedicated team is our most valuable part.

Our partners in the cities and in the countryside

Without our partners we would not be present and we would not be able to inspire our fans every evening.

Together with them, we were recognized by the federal government (the initiative Germany - Land of Ideas is the joint location initiative of the federal government and German industry, represented by the Federation of German Industries under the patronage of the Federal President) as an "Excellent Place in the Land of Ideas". Our merit in bringing culture for children to socially disadvantaged areas and rural regions was particularly honored.

Our local partners do an enormous amount: be it press work, communication with subscribers and spontaneous viewers, or follow-up work. Hardly anyone can estimate the effort that makes cultural work in the area possible. We would like to thank our customers very much for this.
