Description
The Vocal Ensemble of the Warsaw Chamber Opera consists of 25 professional singers who perform both choral and ensemble parts and often solo roles in opera performances and oratorio concerts. The ensemble in its present shape was established in 2013 as a continuation of the Soloist Ensemble operating since the 1980s and the WOK Chamber Choir established in 1983. For nearly 60 years of operation, the team was managed by: prof. Józef Bok, prof. Ryszard Zimak, prof. Wanda Tchórzewska-Kapała, Andrzej Borzym, Liliana Krych, and since 2017 it has been headed by prof. Krzysztof Kusiel-Moroz.During their activity, the artists of the Vocal Ensemble collaborated with such conductors as: Jacek Kaspszyk, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Kai Bumann, José Maria Florêncio, Benjamin Bayl, Friedrich Haider, and Paul Esswood, visiting almost all European countries during numerous tours, as well as many times hosted in Japan. The versatility of the group's singers is evidenced by the extremely extensive and demanding repertoire which included works of broadly understood early music, including both JS Bach 's Passions, operas by JP Rameau, JB Lully, GF Handel, operas and classical oratorios, especially WA Mozart from Idomeneo , Così fan tutte , Don Giovanni , The Magic Flute , Requiem and Great Mass in C minor , romantic operas by G. Rossini, G. Donizetti, CM Weber, P. Tchaikovsky, G. Verdi, up to works of the 20th and 21st centuries such as: Jenufa L. Janáček, The Life of I. Stravinsky, Baltazar and Antygona Z. Krauze, Quo Vadis B. Matuszczak, Orfeusz D. Przybylski, Tango M. Dobrzyński. The outstanding directors cooperating with the Vocal Group in the production of stage works include: Jerzy Dejmek, Ryszard Peryt, Jarosław Kilian, Marek Weiss, Jitka Stokalska, Michał Znaniecki, Deda Ch. Colonna, Grzegorz Chrapkiewicz. Many of the performed works have been recorded on CDs, and recently also TV and Internet broadcasts. Both the conductors and directors cooperating with the artists of the Vocal Ensemble have repeatedly emphasized their high-quality vocal professionalism, as well as excellent acting skills, flexibility and personal commitment to the projects carried out.
