Opera NEO Summer Opera Festival and Workshop

Opera NEO is an intensive, one-month workshop. Generally, our singers are voice majors in a conservatory or college music program, graduate voice majors and young postgraduate professionals. We strive to unlock their full potential while nurturing each individual's artistic qualities and personality to help them develop into independent artists. We supply them with the tools they need to be well-rounded, versatile competitors in the ever-changing and increasingly demanding market.

In addition to fully staged opera performances, concerts and other events, we focus on helping each young artist to take the next step in their development. Every singer gets the opportunity to solidify and leave with a complete audition portfolio.

We focus on performances of 17th and 18th century operas in addition to productions of later works. Opera NEO investigates the role of opera, today and in the future, by engaging broader audiences and by finding new possibilities for contemporary interpretations. By marrying historically informed musical performance with stagings that speak to the theatergoers of today, we build a bridge that connects performers and audience members with the artists of the past and keeps their work alive and relevant. We are committed to keeping opera accessible and affordable. By using small and intimate venues and alternative performance spaces, we bring the action and emotions close to the viewers.
