Description

Between Rhône and Saône , at the crossroads of the Terreaux district and the lower slopes of Croix-Rousse, in the heart of Lyon, the Opéra national de Lyon, renovated in 1993 by the architect Jean Nouvel, is an emblematic theater of the 'contemporary architecture.

The Opéra de Lyon is first and foremost a huge cylindrical glass roof, illuminated in red on performance evenings, resting on the historic facades of the theater dating from 1831. Within this setting, the large hall with 1100 seats takes place in an impressive black hull suspended in the heart of an architecture that carries the project of a fascinating journey towards modernity and innovation.
