Description

The Grand Théâtre de Tours, after its multiple transformations and reconstructions, today recalls in many ways the architecture of the Palais Garnier in Paris: its monumental staircase, the Italian-style room, the paintings on the ceilings seem to be variations in minor mode of the Parisian model.

Since 2016, the Opéra de Tours and the Orchester Symphonique Région Center-Val de Loire have been conducted by Benjamin Pionnier.

The Opéra de Tours presents an opera and symphonic season to the public of Touraine and, more generally, of the Center region, every year, as well as lyrical recitals, chamber music concerts and shows for young audiences.

Endowed with a permanent choir of about fifteen choristers, it also hosts within it a symphony orchestra, of regional dimension since 2002. This new phalanx has for mission to revitalize the regional musical landscape and to create a pole of excellence in its field. With the regular support of this orchestral formation, known under the name of OSRC-T, the Grand-Théâtre is the privileged temple of music. Numerous symphonic concerts and operas are given there under the direction of prestigious conductors. Fascinating lyrical works are created and the opera is served by great voices.

The Grand Théâtre de Tours, the only opera house in the Center Region, is a place of creation, production and presentation of shows but it also has, unlike its beginnings, workshops for making costumes, for making costumes. sets and accessories. It has become what we call an "Opera House".

Driven by high standards of quality, the Grand Théâtre de Tours holds a privileged and significant place among the cultural structures of the Center region and pursues its objective of introducing lyrical and symphonic music to an ever wider audience.
