Description

Gustav Mahler Privatuniversität für Musik is based on a hundred-year-old tradition of musical and artistic education at the highest level of quality. Until its accreditation in May 2019, the Carinthian State Conservatory fulfilled the task of professionally qualifying and promoting talented young people as part of its non-academic study programs.

The Gustav Mahler Privatuniversität für Musikoffers four fields of study: a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree program in Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy, and a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree program in Musical Performance Arts. The Bachelor’s programs each comprise 8 semesters, the Master’s programs a minimum study period of 4 semesters.

In the areas of teaching, scholarship, and research, the Gustav Mahler Privatuniversität für Musik pursues two approaches: a scientific approach ("research about art") and an artistic approach, termed "artistic research" or "Exploration and Development of the Arts" (EEK), which defines research "through art and in art."

Interregionalism and internationality are essential components of the Gustav Mahler Privatuniversität für Musik's identity. The university structure allows teachers, and especially students, a significantly greater degree of mobility and cross-border exchange of experience.
