Description

The Astoria Music Festival was founded in 2003 in the charming seacoast town of Astoria, Oregon. Each June the Festival produces a 17-day season of operatic, symphonic, and chamber music concerts. Programs are selected and conducted by Artistic Director Keith Clark, who invites major international soloists to perform as featured artists. Festival concerts are held in the historic Liberty Theater and several local churches and colleges.

The Festival’s annual Apprentice Programs offer advanced training to pre-professional young singers and instrumentalists. A new Chamber Music Workshop draws adult amateur musicians for four days of ensemble coaching by distinguished faculty performers. In addition, there are free noon concerts by apprentice musicians, and free “Music Around Town” events in collaboration with other local organizations.

The Astoria Music Festival has gained a national reputation for excellence and is the only professional classical music presenter on Oregon’s North Coast. The Festival opera productions have been listed among The Oregonian’s “Top Ten Classical Music Performances in the Pacific Northwest” three times during the Festival’s short history.
