The Grand Opera House, a performing arts center of Mercer University, seeks an experienced full-time Executive Director to lead its small team of dedicated professionals that support Middle Georgia’s premier year-round center for Broadway, concerts, arts education and locally-produced attractions. The 1,007-seat, 1904-vintage theater within the last five years has undergone an extensive remodeling that included renovation and expansion of front-of-house spaces, including two new bars, greatly improved customer-service resources, replacement of seating and carpet and improvements to its HVAC and loading dock. These improvements represent approximately $3 million of investment in The Grand’s future.

The Executive Director is responsible for the leadership and fiscal management of The Grand, including all programming, fundraising, community outreach, and serving as a liaison between Mercer University and The Grand.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and extensive management experience in arts administration including fundraising,

programming, presenting, facilities management and operations are required. Advanced and demonstrable skills in contract negotiation, fund development, daily operations, public speaking, and creative problem solving are essential to success in this position. He or she must be a self-starter able to work individually and flexibly within a team environment, both within The Grand family and with a number of community-based arts organizations. Sophistication with revenue and expense forecasting and future-year budget preparation required, as well as the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
