Augustana College

Augustana College, Rock Island, IL, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in the Music department for a Voice Faculty Member (tenor, baritone or bass preferred) beginning in August of the 2022-2023 academic year with possible renewal upon mutual agreement for two succeeding years. Tenor, baritone, and bass candidates are preferred. The successful candidate will direct fully- and partially-staged performances for the college's flexible OperX Ensemble, provide musical direction for productions in the musical theatre program, provide instruction in applied voice, and teach other courses according to the candidate's qualifications and interests.

Requirements:

Doctoral degree in vocal performance or a related field by December 2022; ABD considered. The successful candidate will be a leader, proactive collaborator and problem-solver; an outstanding performer in a variety of classical and popular styles; able to demonstrate excellence in teaching applied voice in a variety of styles and genres; willing to develop a broad pedagogy of voice in line with the mission of the vocal area; able to direct fully- and partially-staged student productions for our flexible OperX Ensemble in the Department of Music; and able to provide outstanding musical direction for musical theatre productions in the Department of Theatre.
