Opera Company of Middlebury’s 2026 Young Artist Program

We’re accepting pre-screening applications from singers and pianists through October 24, 2025!

The OCM Young Artist Program offers four weeks of intensive vocal, musical and language coaching as well as a variety of professional development activities in a supportive atmosphere with individual attention and guidance. The YAP culminates in its own fully staged production with piano. This season we are seeking:

2 Sopranos

2 Mezzo-sopranos

2 Tenors

2 Baritones

1 Bass

1 Collaborative pianist

YAP Singers will:

* Perform all roles in the YAP production of Xavier Monstalvatge's Babel 46, a US premiere

* Sing in the ensemble of the mainstage production of La Traviata

* Perform comprimario roles and/or cover principal roles in La Traviata as appropriate to voice type

The YAP Pianist will:

* Accompany/coach Babel 46 and all professional development activities, such as masterclasses and mock auditions

* Run supertitles for La Traviata

* Receive coachings by the artistic staff

* Singers only: videos of 2 contrasting arias (one must be in Italian)

* Pianists only: videos of two opera excerpts/arias/songs accompanying singers
