Conference of the Birds - Ensemble Auditions.
The Resonance Collective, in collaboration with HEX Vocal Ensemble and C3LA (The Contemporary Choral Collective of Los Angeles) is seeking vocal performers of all voice types with extensive choral and stage experience, for a choreographed, evening length a cappella oratorio, adapted from the 11th century Sufi text the Conference of the Birds.
There is no prepared material for this audition. Ensemble excerpts from the work will be given and learned during the 2 hour audition process. Sheet music is available in advance for those interested.
Audition dates - October 2nd, 2-4pm / October 3rd, 2-4pm
Rehearsal dates - January 3-8, March 7-27, May 16 – June 19. Each period will have
2-3 ensemble calls per week.
Performance dates - March 27 at Scripps College
June 17-19 at the Broad Stage, Santa Monica
There is a strong possibility for national tours following the Broad performance later in the summer and through the Fall. Performers will receive rehearsal stipends and performance fees.
Please send a 1-2 page resume, link to a vocal performance sample, which audition day(s) you are availalbe, and proof of Covid-19 vaccination to info@ResonanceCollective.org. Performers may optionally send a movement clip in addition to the above materials.
• Experience in small vocal ensembles with one-on-a-part singing
• Versatility in timbre and tone (its new music, we’ll make some weird sounds). • Comfort with non-idiomatic vocal improvisation
• Backgrounds in dynamic movement (dance, martial arts, etc).
The Resonance Collective is an interdisciplinary, multi-faceted organization in Los Angeles dedicated to exploring the intersection between artistic and spiritual practice through a multi-ethnic, American lens, and was founded by composer Fahad Siadat and choreographer André Megerdichian in 2012.
Please note that everyone attending the auditions must have proof of vacation. All participants will be required to wear masks for the duration of the audition and social distancing will be observed.
