Description
The Missouri Western State University School of Fine Arts is seeking an Instructor in Music-Choral to begin in August 2023. Successful candidates for this position will hold a Master’s degree in vocal/choral music education (or related field) and possess a record of successful K-12 teaching experience. This is a one-year non-tenure-track appointment with a possibility for renewal.
The preferred candidate will teach the following courses: choral ensembles, choral conducting, secondary methods, song and choral literature, student teacher observations, and other courses as determined by the department and strengths of the candidate. The ideal candidate for this position prioritizes dynamic instructional environments that promote positive, interactive, and inclusive learning experiences for all students.
Duties for this full-time instructor position include activities focused on instruction and learning, as well as the assessment and student support in choral music programming.
Expectations of the successful candidate include but are not limited to:
* Responsibilities include administering choral music programming
* Directing choral music education program
* Advising students, and recruiting and retaining students
* Participation in and support of student retention and success initiatives
* Responsiveness to student communications
* Use and maintenance of Canvas for each course and section
* Timely feedback and assessment of student assignments
* Presence on campus and availability including but not limited to teaching and office hours.
Required Qualifications
* Master’s degree in vocal/choral music education (or related field)
* Possesses a record of successful K-12 teaching experience.
