The Department of Fine and Performing Arts in the College of Arts and Sciences at Loyola University Chicago (LUC) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in choral conducting and voice at the rank of Assistant Professor, for academic year 2021-22. The successful candidate will be joining a department with more than thirty full-time faculty members (five in music) and over five hundred majors and minors (approximately one hundred combined music majors and minors).
This search is part of a University-wide, multi-year hiring initiative designed to hire outstanding researchers and teachers who are reflective of our diverse student body and committed to interdisciplinarity and the pursuit of external grants. Of special interest are candidates who can further the University’s efforts to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The candidate will be expected to oversee all aspects of the ever-growing choral and vocal program, including the Vocal Performance concentration. The teaching load is two courses per semester and will include a combination of conducting choral ensembles (University Chorale and Chamber Choir), and teaching applied voice and conducting students, as well as courses in vocal literature and pedagogy. The successful candidate is expected to pursue a strong research program, including the pursuit of external grants.
