Description

CANTUS IS SEEKING TO FILL A FULL-TIME TENOR POSITION STARTING AUGUST, 2022.

As a member of the eight-voice, artist-led vocal chamber ensemble, you are provided with an annual 52-week contract (August-July), full-time salary with benefits, quarterly voice lesson reimbursement, daily per diem while on tour, and six weeks of vacation. In the 2021-2022 season our artists made a starting salary of $47,000.

Based in arts-friendly Minneapolis, MN, Cantus tours an average of 13 weeks a year, performs an expansive home concert series of five different subscription programs, and has an active schedule of education outreach both in the Twin Cities and across the country.

Artists are responsible not only for learning music and performing, but for the artistic direction of the organization. Artistic point of view, initiative, and entrepreneurship are essential qualities for successful applicants. Each member of Cantus must be engaged in the work of programming and other artistic and administrative tasks essential to achieving our vision.

Cantus is looking for adaptable vocalists who have experience singing a wide range of repertoire both as a soloist and ensemble singer. A typical Cantus concert may include traditional or contemporary choral works, pop songs, spirituals, jazz, and folk songs. The ability to sing across all of these genres in one concert is critical.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will be flexible, easygoing, and a curious musician. Our collaborative environment requires artists who are open to thoughtful, constructive criticism and who are able to provide the same to their colleagues.
