Theater Freiburg

Since the winter semester of 2016/2017, the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg and Theater Freiburg have jointly offered the four-semester postgraduate programme Freiburg Opera Studio. This program provides exceptionally talented young singers with the opportunity to gain their first professional experience at a German municipal theatre with an opera division while simultaneously honing their craft at a renowned music conservatory. The program integrates professional practice with modern conservatory education tailored to the individual needs of each student.

The Freiburg Opera Studio represents a specialised focus within the Master Class/Concert Exam program at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg, targeting outstanding vocal students with a Master’s degree. In exceptional cases, students holding only a Bachelor’s degree may be admitted if they demonstrate extraordinary artistic potential.

Participants in the Freiburg Opera Studio receive a scholarship from the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg, effectively waiving tuition fees, as well as a stipend from the TheaterFreunde Freiburg to support living expenses.

Salary: €1,100/month

Voices: Soprano, Mezzo, Tenor, Baritone and Bass
