Description
The Sea Chanters is the United States Navy’s official chorus and performs a variety of music including traditional choral music, sea chanteys, patriotic fare, opera, Broadway, and contemporary music. Based in Washington, D.C., the Sea Chanters perform for the President, Vice President, and numerous congressional, military and foreign dignitaries. In addition to national tours and concerts in the Washington area, the Sea Chanters can frequently be found at the center of our most important national events, at the White House and U.S. Capitol, as well as at NFL and other professional sporting events.
Applicants must be aged 18 to 39 and otherwise qualified for service in the U.S. Navy. Please note that the Navy has strict requirements with regard to medical readiness and physical appearance. Additionally, Navy Band members may not have tattoos that are visible in short sleeves or skirts. Prospective candidates may
still audition for current vacancies in the U.S. Navy Band, however a tattoo visible in uniform may ultimately prevent you from being offered employment. A waiver granting exception to the policy is possible, but is in no way guaranteed.
The live audition will take place in Washington, D.C. on September 8, 2021 and is by invitation only following a recorded preliminary round. See our website for preliminary info.
All application materials, including recordings, are due by 11:59 p.m. EDT on August 6, 2021.
