Missouri State University is seeking Department Head of Music.
The Department Head is responsible for administering an academic department within a college which may include and is not limited to, faculty recruitment and development, faculty evaluation, program development, program review, curriculum development, student advisement, departmental budgeting and budget control, class schedule planning, and general supervision of the teaching, research, and service and related scholarly activities of the department.
The minimum acceptable qualifications for the position of Department Head are prescribed by the College Dean in concert with guidance from the Provost. A demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse environment is required.
Candidate must have terminal degree (doctorate) in music and be tenurable as a full professor in the Department of Music. Must have documented administrative experience, including responsibility for recruitment and evaluation of personnel, guiding curriculum development, budgeting, and promotion and support of faculty scholarship. Must demonstrate a strong record of scholarship/creative activity in a music area of expertise. Must demonstrate support of initiatives in online education. Must demonstrate commitment to fostering a diverse environment. Must be successful in teaching, research/creative activity, and service. Must have excellent communication skills.
