Description

The Allentown Symphony Chorus is a professional level chorus that will be featured at least once a year with the Allentown Symphony Orchestra. This chorus is designed to not compete with other Lehigh Valley choruses, and will only rehearse eight weeks prior to this year’s featured concert. The Allentown Symphony Chorus will be comprised of approximately 50 voices. There will be special auditions for paid Section Leaders and Assistant Section Leaders. There will also be auditions for positions in a Scholarship Quartet, which will be open to local college students upon teacher recommendation.

This season, the chorus will be singing two concerts. The first will be with the Allentown Band on their annual Veteran’s Day concert, which will be November, 17, 2024. The spring concerts will be Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9, 2025 with the Allentown Symphony Orchestra performing Vaughan Williams Dona Nobis Pacem.

The Allentown Symphony Chorus will be comprised of approximately 50 voices. All singers interested in becoming part of the ASC must take part in a short audition, which includes singing the provided excerpt and sight reading. Honorarium positions for a Scholarship Quartet will be available to local college students majoring in a vocal music degree. Any new singers auditioning for an honorarium position must also prepare a solo piece for their audition. The solo should be an aria or art song of five minutes or less.

AUDITION DATES: Thursday, October 10, 2024 and Thursday, November 14, 2024

Auditions will take place inside the Rodale Room of Miller Symphony Hall.
