Description
The Kansas State University School of Music, Theatre, and Dance invites applications for an Instructor of Voice. This full-time, nine-month term instructor position will start August 7, 2022 and end May 13, 2023 with a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Based on performance, this position is eligible to be converted to a renewable, regularized instructor.
Primary responsibilities are to teach applied voice students, Italian Diction Course, and Voice Seminar class. In addition to individual efforts to recruit voice students, the successful candidate will be expected to collaborate on departmental recruitment and marketing activities as assigned.
Possible duties including music direction for staged performances, serving on committees or teaching assignments based upon the successful candidate’s experience may be assigned as required. Research, scholarship, and creative activities are encouraged and supported by the School as means to stay current in the field and to build the reputation of the program.
Minimum Qualifications:
An earned master’s degree in music or commensurate professional experience.
Demonstrated success in voice studio instruction.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Tenor, baritone, or bass preferred; however, all voice types will be considered;
DMA or commensurate degree in vocal performance, vocal pedagogy, or other vocal specialization;
Piano skills efficient for studio lessons;
Excellent ability to utilize electronic communication and computer applications necessary for program recruiting and marketing.
