Kean University seeks Assistant Professor, Choral Director, Fall 2022.

Music (Tenure Track Assistant Professor: Choral Director) - to direct Vocal Ensembles, teach Choral Conducting, Sight Singing and Ear Training, Vocal Performance, Music Education and/or Vocal Methods courses in Music Education. The faculty member will conduct and develop multiple vocal ensembles, and oversee vocal studies, including supervision of voice studio faculty. The successful candidate will be a core faculty member who will participate in all faculty meetings and committees and contribute to recruitment, community outreach and program development activities, with an eye towards vibrant and impactful vocal ensembles comprising both voice majors and the general music student body. Additional responsibilities include participation in curriculum development, planning and assessment, academic advising, student mentorship and career development. The ideal candidate will embody the teacher-scholar/artist model, matching rigorous research and artistic work with dedication to teaching, and will contribute to the institution’s unique Urban Research University designation.

Qualifications: Doctorate in Choral Conducting, Music Education, or a related discipline required. Candidates with a record of success as a choral director at the secondary/collegiate level are preferred. Additional areas of expertise are welcomed, but not limited to: Research in Choral Music and Conducting; Community Ensembles; Multicultural Music; Music in an Urban Environment.
