This production will be an adult cast and is intended for our Studio400 audiences. A script is available in the PLT main office to check out and read in the building (so give yourself an hour or two to peruse).

Directed by long-time PLT volunteer Denley Messerly with music direction by Zander Smith, in his directorial debut.

Trail to Oregon is a lively and humorous musical that follows the misadventures of a quirky pioneer family as they journey westward along the Oregon Trail in the 19th century. Led by the bumbling but well-meaning Father, the family encounters a series of obstacles and colorful characters along the way, including bandits, buffalo stampedes, and the dreaded dysentery.

This show contains mature themes and language.

You may pre-fill your "Studio400" audition form found on our website (print and bring with you - the form does not save your info online), or fill out when you arrive. We will read and sing in the Rehearsal Hall.

Prepare 16 - 24 bars (one verse and a chorus) of a song in musical theatre style (unless otherwise indicated). Please bring a track to back your song, there will be no accompanist. You may use your phone to play music through our speakers. No a cappella auditions, please.

Our production of The Trail to Oregon! diverges significantly from its original inspiration and is designed to be portrayed by a diverse ensemble. Our aim is for the characters to reflect the unique identities and experiences of the actors who inhabit them. Our creative team is eager to tailor the material to celebrate the distinct talents and perspectives of each member of our cast.
