The Jacobs School of Music seeks candidates with experience in a broad range of vocal repertoire for a two-year, full-time post-doctoral position as collaborative pianist for the academic years 2022-23 and 2023-24. Duties will be flexible, depending on the interests and areas of expertise of the candidate, but will include individual and duo coaching of both recital and operatic repertoire, preparing and performing with students, and coordinating projects with visiting artists. The successful candidate may teach a course in song literature during each semester of their appointment. Personal projects will result in public performances by the participants. This position is in the Chamber and Collaborative Music Department at the Jacobs School of Music.

Basic Qualifications

A completed doctorate in collaborative piano, or equivalent training in an academic institution outside the United States, is required at the time of appointment; consideration will be given to applicants with a doctoral degree in piano performance if they have extensive collaborative experience. Candidates must have completed their training or have received the doctorate from an institution other than Indiana University no later than August 1, 2022, but no earlier than five years prior to their appointment. Candidates should possess comprehensive knowledge of lyric diction and be proficient in basic Italian, German and French. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of artistic accomplishment and technical keyboard skills, fluency in sight-reading, ability to coach pianists and singers, a lively intellectual and musical curiosity, and good organizational skills.
