Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences invites applications for the position of Department Head for the Department of Music and Performing Arts. The Department is seeking a dynamic individual who is an active and accomplished practitioner in their discipline to provide strong and effective leadership for the Department of Music and Performing Arts. Southeastern Louisiana University is NASM accredited and offers the Bachelor of Music degree and Master of Music degree. The department has 16 full-time faculty, 2 full-time staff, and 9 part-time faculty.

The Department Head is the chief academic and administrative officer of the department. This position is a 12-month administrative appointment that reports to the Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operation needs of the department, including the supervision and evaluation of all faculty and staff; administration of the departmental budget; and recruitment and retention of students and faculty. The successful candidate must be dedicated to excellence in teaching. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate an ability to establish a collegial environment, develop facilities, and possess an interest in working collaboratively at the departmental, college, and university levels.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Doctorate in a music discipline (e.g. performance, musicology, theory, education, etc.)
