Opera Australia Young Artist Program

The Opera Australia Young Artist Program offers professional training in the heart of Australia’s national opera company, allowing emerging artists to draw on the expertise of Opera Australia’s vast community of artists, répétiteurs, directors, vocal coaches, technicians and specialists.

The OAYAP is not just a training program; it’s an investment in the next generation of operatic talent. Artists join Opera Australia on full-time contracts for 18-months to gain the skills, opportunities and support needed to launch a successful global careers.

Eligibility

* Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, currently residing in Australia

* Must reside in Sydney for the duration of the program

* 18 years or older by 1 January 2026

* Must have completed High School studies

* Must have received relevant advanced training, performance and/or experience

* Must be available for 18-month schedule in its entirety from 1 July 2026 – 31 December 2027
