Description

The Department of Music at Midwestern State University, a NASM accredited institution, invites applications for Assistant Professor (Director of Choral Activities) to begin August 2025. This is a nine-month tenure-track appointment. This is an ideal position for a highly-motivated artist, educator, and leader seeking opportunities to transform and grow the music unit, adding to the efforts of existing faculty. We believe in preparing students to become successful professionals in the local and global context. Serve as Director of Choral Activities; direct choirs (Midwestern Singers, Oratorio Chorus); teach diction, choral literature, applied voice lessons; and perform other duties commensurate with experience and education. In addition, assess students, hold office hours, and engage in department, college, and university service. This includes, but is not limited to, recruiting, establishing strong working relationships with colleagues and area school directors, and representing the music department on and off campus.

A doctorate of music is required, with a specialization in choral conducting and/or vocal performance preferred. Desirable qualifications include a record of successful artistic/professional achievements and prior experience in choral conducting. Individuals with a background in studio instruction, vocal performance, opera/musical theatre direction, vocal accompanying, or other similar skills will receive further consideration.

Review of applications begins immediately. Applications will be accepted until position is filled.
