Description
The 2021/22 season marks the third year of the Opera Columbus-Capital University Resident Artist Program. During the year (August 2021-June 2022), Resident Artists will perform as mainstage and educational artists for Opera Columbus and serve as voice instructors/classroom assistants for the Conservatory of Music at Capital University. In addition, artist development opportunities (including possible voice lessons and dramatic coaching) will be an important part of this program. This joint residency is designed to bolster and mentor the next generation of performer-teachers by providing both professional performance experience and collegiate teaching opportunities.
2021-2022 Resident Artists will be considered for major roles, significant covers, comprimario, featured chorus, and may run surtitles for all Opera Columbus productions, as well as soloists for select concert events and educational touring artists. Select Opera Columbus repertoire includes:
Tosca – December 2021
Fellow Travelers – February 2022
La Traviata– June 2022
40 Days of Opera – May 2022 to June 2022
Resident Artists will also be required to present a solo voice recital at Capital University as part of the Signature series and participate in select opera scenes/performance opportunities as assigned. Teaching private voice and assisting in coursework in-person or virtually will also be an integral part of this residency.
