Description
CWRU seeking Full-Time Lecturer in Music Education and Director of Choral Activities - Department of Music.
Duties will include teaching undergraduate courses in vocal/choral music education methods and directing the Case Concert Choir and an additional ensemble. Other duties, dependent on qualifications and departmental needs, may include directing an additional ensemble or teaching additional undergraduate and graduate courses. The teaching load is 5 courses/year (2 one semester, 3 one semester). In addition to the teaching responsibilities, there is a substantial department service role that includes managing ensembles, mentoring choral music education students, recruiting for the choir and the music education program, and interfacing with local schools through guest clinics, observations, and the like. Initial appointment is for one year, and may be renewed for up to two additional one-year periods. Rank: Lecturer, non-tenure-track.
Applicants must have at minimum A.B.D. status in a doctoral program in Music Education, demonstrated experience in choral conducting, a minimum of three years documented successful public school teaching experience, and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching. Preferred qualifications include: a background in vocal pedagogy; college teaching experience; and receipt of doctorate by the date of appointment.
