Tenor Vocalist Audition for The United States Air Force Band – Washington, D.C.

This is an amazing opportunity for a stable, salaried singing career, with a starting salary of $76,000–$83,000 and benefits including 30 days of paid vacation annually, full healthcare and dental coverage, VA loan eligibility, GI Bill/tuition assistance, paid parental leave, and the option for a pension-retirement after 20 years of service!

We are looking for a skilled ensemble and solo singer who can perform in multiple genres. Information for the pre-screening round is listed below. Applications and pre-screening materials are due on August 10, 2025, and the live audition will take place in Washington, D.C. on September 8-9, 2025.

The Singing Sergeants regularly perform at high-visibility public events across the United States, including national tours, military ceremonies, and major civic celebrations. Their work includes performing the National Anthem at sporting events, honoring military and government leaders, and strengthening international relationships by performing for visiting foreign dignitaries. Their performances highlight the power of music to unify, uplift, and represent the values of service and community. Known for their exceptional versatility, they perform a wide range of repertoire, including traditional choral music, patriotic songs, opera, Broadway hits, pop, rock, and more.

- Semi-Final & Final Round: September 9, 2025 (for qualified candidates from the preliminary round or recordings)

Preliminary Requirements:

Prepare three selections based on the following guidelines. One selection must be in a language other than English.

- One classically influenced piece (e.g. opera/oratorio aria, art song, golden age musical theater song, etc.)

- Two contrasting contemporary commercial music (CCM) selections (e.g., pop, rock, gospel, jazz, R&B, Motown, country, Latin, contemporary musical theatre). One of these must be up-tempo.

- Songs like "You Raise Me Up" and classically influenced/golden-age musical theater pieces do not qualify as CCM. If you plan to use such pieces, please select alternatives.

- Suggested CCM artists include (but are not limited to): Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Rascal Flatts, Andy Grammer, Bruno Mars, The Beach Boys, Owl City, The Beatles, Phil Collins, Gavin DeGraw, and Elton John.

Please maintain the integrity of each chosen musical style, as the Singing Sergeants require skills in many different genres and musical contexts. Choose repertoire that highlights your strengths and proficiencies.
