Career Development Grant 2023

The Vancouver Opera Guild will disburse a $6,000 Career Development Grant in June 2023. This Grant will be awarded to a person involved in the Production/Technical areas of opera and will be available to Canadian citizens and those with Landed Immigrant status between the ages of 20 and 39 years.

The purpose of the Grant is to help people involved with, or preparing for, a career in the production/technical areas of opera, to improve their skills or to work on a personal project related to opera. Candidates for the 2020 Grant must be pursuing a career in opera production; for example: costume, set or lighting design, stage direction, stage management etc.

The 2023 Grant is not available to applicants for the completion of a degree. Singers may apply for the 2024 Grant in the Fall (November) of 2023.

Grant applications will be judged by a jury of three members of the operatic/artistic community on the following points:

* potential of the applicant

* merit of the project

* education/training or work-related experience.

The Grant will be made available at the start of the successful candidate’s project. The recipient must send a report on the project to the Vancouver Opera Guild not later than three months after its completion.

The deadline for the receipt of completed applications is April 15, 2023.
