Central Michigan University seeks Music Theatre (Tenure-Track Assistant Professor).

The successful candidate will teach in the Department of Theatre and Dance, including classes for the Music Theatre BFA, Theatre BFA, BA, BS, and BAA undergraduate programs and advise students on projects and productions specifically focused in the area of Music Theatre. Applicants should possess a strong background in music theatre and a knowledge of the music theatre canon including history, as well as a passion for developing new work, and remaining current in the field with regard to evolving styles, techniques, and repertoire. The candidate should also possess a willingness to work with a collaborative spirit within a team of faculty with varied approaches, and a proven ability to teach beginning and advanced Music Theatre and Theater courses.

Qualifications include significant professional experience in music theatre and teaching/coaching music theatre performance, and music theatre scholarship. The successful candidate must have a comprehensive knowledge of repertoire and styles of music theatre (including pop, rock, country, and rap/spoken word), and knowledge of classical vocal repertoire. Strong vocal technique and the ability to teach voice is a plus. The ideal candidate will teach at the undergraduate level, fostering critical study, creative practice, and provocation in the classroom and beyond.
